SO Dapper Day at Disneyland happened this past Friday, so I met up with a bunch of my friends and had a jolly good time! My mom found me this AMAZING Minnie Mouse inspired dress; so I did a 50s Minnie Disneybound. It was so much fun! If you don’t know what Disneybounding is, allow me to share BuzzFeed’s marvelous definition with you: “DisneyBounding is when Disney fans dress up as contemporary versions of their favorite characters. It’s basically closet cosplay at its finest – prepare swoon with jealousy.” So there you have it 😀
I hope you enjoy the photos I have to share with you. The first few were taken at my parents work, so forgive the unofficial Coke advertising :P. And sorry for the so-so quality, I only had my phone and sometimes quite terrible lighting! I’ll go more into my hair and makeup below 🙂
If you’re interested in how I did my hair, it was quite simple, though time consuming. I used a combination of tutorial videos; the first being from Kandee Johnson for the front bump [click click here for watching!] and for the back I got help from Pinup Doll Ashley Marie [watch me!] These two marvelous ladies go through easy to follow, step by step instructions that can’t help but leave you looking fabulous 😉 Nowhere could I find what to do with my very un-50’s bangs, so I ended up curling them back like Kandee shows with the front of her hair, and then using an ungodly amount of hairspray to stick those suckers back!
For my makeup I did my normal routine; but then took the time and patience [so much patience, eyebrows are my least favorite 😦 ] to really darken and shape my eyebrows. I also tried a new way of creating winged eyeliner that I definitely enjoyed the result of. I just followed along with THIS diagram and it worked out pretty darn well! Slap on some red lipstick and you’re looking pretty 50 nifty!
Let me know in the comments if you try any of this fun stuff and what the results were! Or just say hey! 😀
Also while at Dapper Day, I went to the Expo Hall and met up with my new friends over at Besame Cosmetics and got some fun goodies – pictured above.
Secrets secrets I’m working with them to collaborate on some really awesome posts featuring their amazing vintage makeup, so lookout for that!
