“And in the end, we were all just humans… drunk of the idea that love, only love, could heal our brokenness.”

“Why don’t you tell me that ‘if the girl had been worth having, she’d have waited for you’? No, sir, the girl really worth having won’t wait for anybody.”

“I’m not sure what I’ll do, but — well, I want to go places and see people. I want my mind to grow. I want to live where things happen on a big scale.”

A 1920s look, inspired by my Besame Cosmetics ❤

This is the 3rd installment of my Besame posts; the vintage look to parallel my previous modern look. Here I used their Noir Red Lipstick and Apricot Cream Rouge. Noir Red was released by Besame when The Great Gatsby movie came out in theaters; so just I had to do a 1920s look for Potpurrri. I wish I’d had the time to find a true vintage 20s outfit, but this Dear Creatures dress is absolutely wonderful for a 20s feel and it did the trick nicely. They make such adorable vintage inspired dresses, their site is definitely worth a good browsing. If anyone would be interested in a tutorial on either my hair or makeup, please let me know in the comments!

All the quotes used are from F. Scott Fitzgerald {as long as the internet didn’t lie to me}.  I love the intense life and emotion living within his words.  The 1920s has such a nostalgic yet rebellious vibe to it; The Golden Age, The Jazz Age, The Roaring Twenties. I smell cigarettes, I hear jazz and laughter, clicking of glasses and swishing of fabric as the night gets danced away. We romanticize the past, I know this, but it’s such an incredible world to build in my head.

What I have personally taken away from F. Scott Fitzgerald, is this: Life can be extremely fun and frivolous, and life can be extremely painful; but there is beauty in all of it.  I believe that there is a balance to everything, and if we can find the nuggets of good during the bad, and fully appreciate every moment of the fun times – that is where you learn to live life well.

“That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you’re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.”

  1. Please, please, can we have a tutorial of both hair style and make up?
I’m kind of messy when we’re talking about make up, and the hair style is simply flawless… can’t wait to see the tutorial!
Lovely pics and awesome – basically everything, even the quotes – dress!
