Rosamund Pike – Givenchy Haute Couture
While I like this dress enough, it wouldn’t normally make my list of top 5. However, whether Rosamund meant to or not, this dress alludes so brilliantly to her character and performance in Gone Girl that it becomes absolutely stunning to me. The dress looks like a bunch of blood red roses spilling down her body, and, if you’ve seen the movie, you now understand where I’m coming from. It’s a highly impressive visual and she looks gorgeous, per usual.
Cate Blanchett – Maison Margiela
Classic and Audrey Hepburn-esque. Need I say more? The pop of color around the neck perfectly breaks up the solid black and keeps it from becoming too monotonous. It’s also a nice transition from the black to her pale skin.
Lupita Nyong’o – custom Calvin Klein
This dress is insane. 6,000 pearls. 6,000! Not only is this dress impressive to look at, but the weight of it must be outrageous. Therefore, I am impressed by her ability and desire to wear it all night long. The pearls and dress are all draped gorgeously and have a really appealing shine and reflection off of them. She looks amazing, hands down – no argument.
Anna Kendrick – Thakoon
This girl. She seems to do everything right. Even wearing a dress in a color that could go so wrong. This peachy/pink could have easily washed her out, but it instead she looks like a porcelain doll. It’s simple and it’s stunning.
Jennifer Aniston – Atelier Versace
Okay, is it just me, or does she totally look like a cream colored mermaid?! Thats’s why I picked this dress. She looks like a mermaid. No one said I was a professional about this.
Eddie Redmayne – Alexander McQueen
His face, the suit. I know nothing about men’s fashion except that these guys look real good.
David Oyelowo – Dolce & Gabbana
I love this color. It’s such a fun, bold choice and he looks crazy dapper and handsome.
Neil Patrick Harris – Brunello Cucinelli
The grey! It’s offbeat and it looks great. All of NPH’s tuxedos looked amazing, all interesting colors; clearly I like colors.
Okay, this tuxedo does NOT have color but Steve Carell looks so classic with the addition of those glasses and his facial scruff. It’s giving me a 1950s vibe, and I love me some 1950s vibes.
Chris Pratt – Tom Ford
Lastly, we have Chris Pratt. Because his face. Also he looks really good – like a poster boy for how to look in a Tuxedo.
Lady Gaga – custom Azzedine Alaia
I know I know, it’s a little nutso, but for Gaga it’s quite calm. I love this dress because it seems like Gaga’s tribute to old Hollywood. It immediately made me think of Vera-Ellen in White Christmas (picture included below), so she’s getting a fashion nod from me. Not to mention her Sound of Music tribute was KILLER as was the dress she wore during the performance.
Jennifer Lopez – Elie Saab
This is a little much for me – a little too poofy and a little too low cut. BUT SHE LOOKS LIKE A PRINCESS. So, I’m torn.
Scarlett Johansson – Versace
So, this dress is fabulous. I love the color, I love the darker green accentuating her curves, and she looks phenomenal. It’s the choker piece that gets me. Especially with the hair, I feel like she’s starting to turn into an exotic parrot. So again, on the fence with this.
So that’s it for my Oscar picks; which fashion choices were your favorites?! Let me know in the comments! 🙂
